A cleanroom panel—often referred to as a sandwich panel—is a high-performance building material engineered specifically for controlled environments such as pharmaceutical facilities, semiconductor fabrication plants, food processing centers, and biotechnology laboratories. Structurally, a standard cleanroom panel consists of two outer facings made from pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI), stainless steel, or coated aluminum, with an insulated core material sandwiched in between. Common core types include polyurethane (PU), rock wool, polyisocyanurate (PIR), and aluminum honeycomb.
These panels function by creating an airtight, smooth, and non-shedding envelope that prevents the infiltration of airborne particulates and microbial contaminants. The interlocking tongue-and-groove design ensures a tight seal between panels, maintaining the required differential pressure and airflow patterns dictated by ISO 14644 standards. In addition to contamination control, cleanroom sandwich panels offer excellent thermal insulation, soundproofing, and chemical resistance, making them ideal for modular cleanroom construction where hygiene, durability, and ease of maintenance are critical. Unlike traditional drywall systems, these panels support rapid assembly and disassembly, which is essential for GMP-certified facilities requiring frequent layout modifications or equipment upgrades.
