Selecting the right core material for your cleanroom wall panels or ceiling panels depends largely on your project’s fire safety requirements, thermal performance needs, and budget constraints.

Rock Wool Panels:​ These are the preferred choice for projects with strict fire safety regulations. Rock wool cores offer a non-combustible solution with fire ratings typically reaching Class A (Euroclass A1) and can withstand temperatures over 1,000°C. They provide robust acoustic insulation but have a lower R-value (thermal resistance) compared to foam-based alternatives.

PU (Polyurethane) & PIR (Polyisocyanurate) Panels:​ PU and PIR cores excel in thermal insulation due to their closed-cell structure, offering high energy efficiency for temperature-sensitive environments. PIR panels are an enhanced version of PU, featuring improved fire resistance and reduced smoke density. While PU/PIR panels are lightweight and cost-effective, they generally require additional fire-rated barriers to meet stringent building codes in certain regions.

Aluminum Honeycomb Panels:​ These panels are designed for ultra-clean environments, particularly in the electronics and aerospace industries. The aluminum honeycomb core is 100% non-combustible and provides exceptional flatness and structural rigidity without adding significant weight. However, they offer minimal thermal insulation compared to PU or rock wool, meaning they are often used in conjunction with HVAC systems rather than as primary insulators.

When choosing between these options, it is vital to consider local fire codes (such as FM 4910 or EN 13501-1) and the specific ISO cleanliness class required for your operation.
