Cleanroom Panel Replacement: What to Check Before Ordering

Cleanroom Panel Replacement: What to Check Before Ordering

Planning cleanroom panel replacement? Check dimensions, joints, profiles, openings and finishes before ordering panels for an existing enclosure.

Before ordering replacement cleanroom wall panels, ask the supplier to check the existing joints, perimeter profiles, openings and installation arrangement. Matching the thickness, colour or core does not confirm compatibility; the replacement must be reviewed against the installed system.

This is a purchasing checklist for replacement wall panels. It does not cover panel removal or ceiling access, and it does not authorise changes to an operating cleanroom.

Does the same thickness mean the panel will fit?

No. Panels of the same nominal thickness can have different edges, connecting components and finished dimensions. A similar appearance does not tell you what is inside the panel. If available, start with the original supplier’s details, panel model and approved drawings.

The AILV CleanCore panel system page describes its shared construction and configuration options. Check the proposed replacement against the installed enclosure before ordering.

Five details to check before you order

Check Information to confirm
Panel dimensions Measure the installed height, width and thickness. Record where you took each measurement and whether it describes the exposed face or the whole panel.
Joints and profiles Check the edge geometry, connecting pieces, base and head channels, corner profiles and approved sealing detail.
Existing openings Record door frames, observation glazing, return-air interfaces and service penetrations. Show their positions relative to the panel edges.
Facing and finish Identify the facing material, coating, texture, colour reference and cleaning exposure. A new panel may look different from the older installed finish.
Construction and evidence Record the known core construction, reinforcement and any required performance documentation. Review a proposed change to the core or fixings before treating it as equivalent.

For these connections, see cleanroom wall panel surface and joint details and door and window opening coordination.

Ask the supplier which dimensions or concealed interfaces still need checking.

Which photographs should you send?

Photograph the whole wall and mark the panel you want to replace. Add photographs of accessible joints or profiles and nearby openings, plus any supplier label or drawing reference you have. Include a dimensioned sketch and explain where you measured.

Do not dismantle joints or remove fixings to take photographs. If a detail is concealed, say so and arrange any survey with the facility team. Photos help the supplier understand the job, but they do not replace drawings, measurements or confirmation of hidden connections.

What if you do not know the original panel model?

Describe the existing condition and what you know about it. The supplier can review that information and identify what still needs checking before a proposal. A panel from another manufacturer is not necessarily compatible because it is sold as a cleanroom sandwich panel.

If you cannot confirm an exact match, ask whether to replace a coordinated section, including adjoining profiles or frames. The decision depends on the installed system and the facility’s requirements.

Plan the site work as well as the supply order

Agree site access, shutdown arrangements, installer responsibilities and any inspection or requalification requirements with the facility’s responsible team. A matching panel does not, by itself, confirm that the modified enclosure has kept its previous performance. Assess ceiling panels, structural elements and service-bearing assemblies separately.

Discuss your replacement panel with AILV

To request a cleanroom enclosure retrofit quote, send existing-system details, marked photographs, dimensions, quantity and delivery destination through AILV’s contact page. Confirm compatibility, final specifications and available documents before manufacture. Use the cleanroom panel catalogue to compare new-panel options; a catalogue listing does not confirm a drop-in replacement.
